NickVegas from GreyscaleGorilla started the year with a really insightful Cinema 4D and After Effects tutorial called Camera Projection and GI in Cinema 4D .He goes through setting up the scene in C4D, the exporting, color correction in After Effects and the compositing. 2 thumbs up. Here’s another GSG (GreyscaleGorilla) After Effects tutorial. Nick explains how to get rid of banding when creating gradiants. I tihnk these are some pretty good techniques and you can apply most of them to Photoshop too. Enjoy.

I was surfiing online and I stumbled across this laser keyboard. It’s called the VKB by I-Tech.It uses laser and infrared technology and bluetooth technology to sync to your PC, mac, or smartphone. It looks like it got some pretty good reviews as well. If anyone has one, comment, let me know what you think.

Stu Maschwitz: Creating a Summer Blockbuster Film Look

I came across a really insightful tutorial on color correcting. It’s by Stu Maschwitz, Sin City’s Visual Effects Supervisor and Red Giant TV Creative Director. He takes us into Adobe After Effects and shows us how to get the looks seen in Transformers 2, Terminator: Salvation, and The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3. Even if you don’t have the Red Giant effects that he uses, it is still a great tutorial in just getting a greater understanding on the trends and techniques used by the big boys. Enjoy.

GET UP! Cool Alarms

My replacement blackberry, which was replaced for another reason, is having new problems now. Dropping calls, losing messages, and the alarm stopped working on it. So now Indira has to wake me up until I get it replaced… again. So this made me start looking for alarms online and I found some really cool and innovative alarm clock designs to get me up in the morning. Enjoy.

Danger Bomb Alarm Clock – The alarm goes off and you have to pick the right wire to deactivate the alarm. The active wire changes everyday.

Sfera Clock – The clock hangs from your ceiling and you everytime you hit snooze it raises itself a little bit higher.

Egg Laying Hen Chicken Clock – The alarm goes off, eggs lay, and you have to put them back in the hen to silence the alarm

Bacon Clock – You wake up to the smell of bacon… not one of my favs.

Pillow Clock – The pillow uses an LED fabric substrate below the surface to wake the user using light.

Shape Up Clock – The alarm will buzz until you’ve done 30 reps

Clocky Alarm Clock – It runs away from you and keeps beeping until you catch it

Gun Operated Clock – When the alarm wakes you up, grab the gun and kill it off!

Here it is… Creativity at its best. I love it when people make the best they can with what they have. In 2005 Sil van der Woerd finished his study of fine arts at the Academy of Art and Design in Arnhem, the Netherlands. This is Sil’s first music video for the track Worms, by singer Lolly Jane Blue. This is truely inspiring and he takes you through the process of how the video is created in four dvds for purchase, and it’s worth every penny. From the planning to the motion tracking, he takes you step by step on how he does it. Enjoy.
